Psychology

Jordan has worked as a psychologist in community services and clinical settings. His experience is predominantly with children, adolescents, and young adults. He has clinical skills working with a range of mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, school refusal, stress, addictions, grief & loss. He also has experience working with clients who have neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD and autism spectrum disorder.

Jordan relies primarily on a cognitive behaviour therapy approach to help clients address their difficulties. He also draws from acceptance and commitment therapy, and motivational interviewing techniques which are individualised to meet client needs.

SWSM's psychologists are registered with a special interest in working with children, adolescents, and young adults. We support clients facing a wide range of mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, school refusal, stress, addictions, and grief and loss. We also have extensive experience assisting individuals with neuro-developmental disorders such as ADHD and autism spectrum disorder.

Using a client-centred approach, we integrate evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing to meet the unique needs of each individual. Our services include assessment, diagnosis, and recommendations for intellectual disability.

We're passionate about helping young people navigate life’s challenges and place strong emphasis on building a trusting therapeutic relationship and creating a safe, non-judgmental space where clients feel supported in their personal development.

About the Sessions

For children aged 6–12 presenting with mood or behavioural concerns, we recommend parental involvement during the first three sessions. Ongoing parent participation is tailored according to the child’s maturity, the complexity of the issues, and family preferences. Individual sessions typically include a brief parent check-in at the beginning and a summary at the end to support effective strategies at home.

For adolescents aged 13 and older, parental involvement is flexible. We generally begin with a joint session and collaboratively determines the level of future parent engagement, respecting the adolescent’s need for independence.

Initial sessions focus on assessment and collaborative goal setting. Treatment plans typically span 6–10 sessions, with extended support available for more severe or persistent issues.
