Physiotherapy Services

Physiotherapists treat all musculoskeletal problems arising from muscles and joints, including the back and neck. The Centre physiotherapists have extensive experience with athletes from numerous sports as well as general public patients. They specialise in biomechanical analysis, and practice a very hands-on approach to treatment with an exercise based rehabilitation regime.

Exercise Physiology Services

Exercise physiologists specialise in the field of health and fitness. The exercise physiologists at Sydney Sports Medicine Centre excel in exercise interventions in areas ranging from chronic conditions, such as diabetes and obesity, to improving sporting performance in semi-elite/elite athletes.

Exercise physiologists run fitness assessments, generate individualised exercise programs to meet the needs of the clients goals.

Weight loss and management is also another focus of the exercise physiologists at Sydney Sports Medicine. They collaborate with the dietitians in the clinic to develop the most suitable and individualised lifestyle/weight loss program for each client.

We have experience in creating exercise programs for the gym, fitness centres, home based exercise programs, swimming pools, and programs aimed at improving functional capacity.

The exercise physiologist also provide functional return to work programs.

Rob Mullard
APA Titled Sports & Exercise Physiotherapist

Rob Mullard is an APA titled Sports & Exercise Physiotherapist who has worked in a variety of sports medicine clinics over the past 20 years, with the past 14 years at Sydney Sports Medicine Centre/Sydney West Sports Medicine.

Rob is currently the Athletics Australia Pathways Lead Physiotherapist and Performance Support Manager / Lead Physiotherapist for the Australian World U20 Athletics Team (2018, 2021, 2022 and 2024). Rob is also currently the NSWIS Athletics Program Physiotherapist (2017-Current).

Rob completed a Masters in Sports Physiotherapy at Latrobe University in 2017. Rob previously completed a Masters in Physiotherapy at Griffith University on the Gold Coast in 2004 and an Exercise and Sport Science degree at Sydney University in 2002.

Rob has had extensive experience with a number of sports including athletics, netball, diving, soccer, rugby league and rugby union. Rob has a keen interest in running performance and injury and has been providing video running assessment services over the 16 years.

Rob has presented at Latrobe University, Sports Medicine Australia and Australia Physiotherapy Association courses. He has also recently been presenting lectures to the University of South Carolina Sports Medicine and Physiotherapy programs during their international education tours.

Rob has extensive experience in treating low back pain, hip, knee, ankle and shoulder injuries. His treatment approach is based on identifying functional / bio-mechanical deficits and correcting these issues to prevent recurrent injury and improve function / performance. He implements a number of treatment methods, including, soft tissue therapy , dry needling, strengthening and functional retraining.

Rob has previously competed in track and field and represented NSW at national championships in the 100m, 200m, long jump and triple jump.

APA Titled Sports & Exercise Physiotherapist

Chris has worked extensively in his local community of Western Sydney as a Physiotherapist and Clinic Manager, coordinating and mentoring a team of Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists and Dieticians since 2014. Chris is passionate about working with people to achieve their impossible - what ever their goal might be!! He has a keen interest in lower limb injuries and understanding the influence of biomechanics and movement patterns on injury management and recovery.

Since 2022, Chris has also worked as the Head Physiotherapist for Volleyball NSW, across their beach and indoor tournaments at the junior, youth and senior levels.

Ewan Watts
Physiotherapist

Ewan graduated from Australian Catholic University with a Bachelors of Exercise and Sports Science before completing his Masters of Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney. Ewan is also a Strength and Conditioning Coach (ASCA Level 1), working with a number of Rugby Union and Aussie Rules clubs.

Ewan has experience working in the private musculoskeletal realm of physiotherapy treating a range of different injuries across a wide variety of sports. He has previously provided sports coverage for Netball, Gymnastics and Rugby Union and has worked with a number of athletes from various sports. Since joining Sydney West Sports Medicine, Ewan has worked closely with the Junior National Level Swimming squad at SOPAC providing weekly strengthening classes and regular physiotherapy reviews.

 Ewan embraces a holistic evidence-based approach to rehabilitation which he believes helps his patients to be better prepared to successfully recover from their injury and achieve their goals.
